American Express Credit Card Applications
American Express credit card applications amaze me at the selection and variety they offer.
They really have 3 key areas that I find to be interesting.
I will break those down below for you to simplify your choices.
What are the 3 Key Categories of American Express Credit Card Applications?
1. Personal Credit Cards for Everyday Use
These are credit cards you would want to carry and use everyday. Just like it says, to spend on groceries, gas, restaurants or shopping. Many of us like to carry just one credit card around to build up either cash rewards or travel rewards. These cards mainly focus on cash back.
2. Travel Credit Cards for Bonus Points
If you like to travel or have specific hotel or airlines you fly with you might be interested in the Amex Travel cards. They specifically have deals for Delta Airlines or Starwood Hotels. You can even get more generic credit cards that are prestigious like the Platinum rewards card. Even though it carries an annual fee of over $500. Now you do have to look at a large list of benefits that come with that fee and decide if you travel enough to make it worth your while.
The travel bonuses can be large and if you get the right card at the correct time you could get enough bonus miles for free travel.
3. Small Business Credit Cards
When you own a small business and need liquidity and quick cash for office supplies, equipment or advertising and marketing expenses, Amex has some great small business credit cards.
What are the Best American Express Credit Card Applications to Apply For?
You need to really compare all the choices in a specific category you are interested in before making a decision. There are many sites that will let you compare credit cards.
We do list the key credit cards we like in each category to help you decide.
Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express
For a personal card you would carry on you each day to really get a nice amount of cash back rewards this is it. Most people spend a lot on groceries. Especially if you have a larger family. This cards gives you the following rewards such as 6% cash back at U.S. supermarkets. You can also get 0% on Purchases or balance transfers for 12 months. There is a $95 annual fee.
Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express
For travel we like the Premier Rewards Gold card because it is generic and the rewards can be used on any airline, hotel or rental car. You can earn 25,000 Membership Rewards® Points after you use your new Card to make $2,000 in purchases within the first 3 months. In regards to the rewards you can earn it breaks down like, 3X points for flights booked directly with airlines. 2X points at US restaurants, US gas stations, and at US supermarkets. 1X points on other purchases.
SimplyCash® Plus Business Credit Card from American Express
The SimplyCash card is great if you have a small business. The reason why we like it is you can get 3% rewards on up to 8 categories you pick out yourself. This helps maximize rewards on items you spend the most on and there is no annual fee.
These are just are opinions on the top in each category. But like we said you can review all of the cards and if you fly Delta Airlines, you will want to check out the Gold Delta SkyMiles card.
